DORCAM Announces the Grand Opening of Manolo Valdés Outdoor Exhibit

The Doral Contemporary Art Museum (DORCAM) celebrated the largest Manolo Valdés outdoor sculpture exhibition to date, Manolo Valdés:  The Legacy, which opened in time for the celebration of Miami Art Week.  The kickoff event began at the “Alhambra” in Doral Central Park on Saturday, December 5, 2020 with the City of Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez and the DORCAM Board of Trustees, Ingrid Rockefeller, Flor Mayoral and Marcelo Llobell.

The exhibition featuring larger-than-life sculptures will be on display for six months until June 2021 with several programs organized around the exhibition throughout its duration, such as guided tours, educational programs for the students of Doral, public workshops and lectures, photography competitions, pop-up exhibitions, performances, and the publication of a limited-edition book, among others.

The monumental sculptures are in all the main public parks in Doral, including Doral Central Park, Downtown Doral Park, MAU Park, Morgan Levy Park, Doral Legacy Park and Doral Glades Park.  Access to the exhibition in the City of Doral parks will be free to the public.

“The timing of the exhibition could not be better, considering that public art is deemed one of the safest ways to enjoy art in the current global health conditions. All visitors are asked to follow CDC guidelines by always wearing masks and social distancing. The exhibition promises to have a positive impact on local businesses,” said Flor Mayoral, M.D., DORCAM co-founder.

“We are sure this amazing exhibition will bring a lot of joy in a year when good news has been scarce.  DORCAM and The City of Doral are bringing Doral into the contemporary art spotlight by exhibiting the world class sculpture of iconic artist, Manolo Valdés,” said Marcelo Llobell, co-founder of DORCAM.

Additional support for this exhibition was provided by Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. For more information on the exhibition, please visit www.Dorcam.org.
