Miami Marlins break ground in Dominican Republic

The Miami Marlins broke ground on the organization’s new baseball academy in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, June 16, as the Marlins continue to fulfill their promise to make significant investments in player development and international talent.

In attendance at the ceremony was Marlins CEO Derek Jeter and General Manager Kim Ng joined by Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader, Dominican Republic Minister of Sports Francisco Jose Camacho Rivas, and Mayor of Boca Chica Fermin Brito. The Marlins also welcomed Yerik Perez, MLB Director of Dominican Republic Operations, and Junior Noboa, the Dominican Republic Commissioner of Professional Baseball.
