Opioid Medications During Take Back Day

Kendall Regional Medical Center collected 7.5 pounds of opioid medications during its “Crush the Crisis” opioid take back day on September 7 to help combat the nation’s opioid crisis. Opioids are highly addictive and many of the people who suffer from opioid addiction have to seek help from a company like Recovery Delivered. Recovery Delivered has online doctors that can help the addict and make sure treatment delivered directly to them. Community members participated in the event by dropping off unused and expired prescription medications.

Unfortunately, opioids are often prescribed to those with chronic pain and as they’re highly addictive, they become more than just a pain med. They become a necessity in daily life. Those suffering from an addictive prescription can visit sites like https://drug guardians.com/ and file a lawsuit, seeking some sort of settlement. An addiction can ruin someone’s life so getting all the support they can is a great way to overcome the addiction.

“Opioid addiction has been a growing concern not only in Miami-Dade County, but across our nation,” said Dr. Manuel Anton, Chief Medical Officer at Kendall Regional Medical Center. “We are proud to have taken part in an event that raised awareness of the dangers of opioid addiction and educated our community about the proper disposal of these medications.” Those with loved ones who have become dependant on certain drugs may want to consider advising them to receive treatment at somewhere like Enterhealth to help turn their lives around.

As an affiliate of HCA Healthcare, Kendall Regional Medical Center is part of a health system that also uses science of “big data” to reduce opioid misuse and transform pain management, with initiatives in surgical, emergency and other care settings including:

  • Enhanced Surgical Recovery (ESR)/ALTernatives to Opioids in the Emergency Room (ALTO in the ER): HCA Healthcare focuses on a multi-modal approach to acute pain management. This means two or more methods or medications are employed to reduce the need to use opioids to manage a patient’s pain while recovering from surgery or in the emergency room.
  • Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS): Physicians have access to aggregated electronic health records that make it more difficult for medication-seekers to doctor-shop or alter prescriptions.

Approximately 65 HCA Healthcare facilities participated in a “Crush the Crisis” opioid take back day in their communities on September 7, 2019.
