New Varsity Baseball Head Coach

Palmer Trinity School recently announced Howard Cuervo as head coach of the varsity baseball program. Cuervo has 17 years of experience coaching baseball. He was an assistant coach at John A. Ferguson Senior High School in Miami and in 2016 became head coach at South Miami Senior High School.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Cuervo came to Miami in 1999. He was a pitcher at South Miami Senior High School and played on the school’s only state championship baseball team. Cuervo then went on to play at Florida Memorial University from 2001–2005, earning multiple honors, including Rookie of the Year, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region, and All-American Honorable Mention. After graduation, he played professionally for El Águila de Veracruz in the Mexican League.

“Coach Cuervo’s love of the game is contagious,” said David Lanham, director of athletics. “This is reflected in how he teaches student-athletes. We look forward to a competitive baseball season in spring 2023 with him at the helm of our varsity program.”

Cuervo stated: “I plan to bring my past experiences to create a culture of caring for one another, a family atmosphere of loyalty, a strong passion for baseball and. most importantly, promoting the importance of success in the classroom.”
