Marker 88, Florida Keys Institution Celebrates Its Grand Reopening

Marker 88 – the iconic restaurant located in Plantation Key, in the Village of Islamorada – is proud to officially reopen its doors, paving the way for a new chapter of beloved cuisine and rich maritime history. Contemporary will meet tropical in the unveiling of the restaurant’s multi-year expansion and renovation, which includes a brand-new state-of-the-art kitchen and expanded beachfront bar and dining areas. From ocean to plate, guests can expect an extensive selection of new and globally inspired dishes providing a simple yet extraordinary dining experience in the heart of Islamorada. Preserving the history and natural allure of the island itself, Marker 88 is excited to welcome guests to its reinvigorated era of beachfront dining.

Growing in size, but grounded since its humble establishment in 1967, Marker 88 will unveil a beautifully renovated 2.5-acre property boasting two tiki bars serving a range of hand-crafted cocktails, local beer with 18 craft draft taps, and wine; 10,000 square feet of beach and oceanfront dining; two boat docks for easy access to boaters and fishermen; and a dedicated retail space for Marker 88 merchandise. Marker 88 also boasts 14,000 square feet of new event space, perfect for weddings and private events of up to 450 guests.

“Marker 88 is not just a restaurant, it’s an extension of the vibrant culture of the Florida Keys. We are excited to bring new life to this storied space, with a well-deserved facelift, and by offering new experiences.

– Charles Galvin, Owners’ Representative

Rooted in decades of Florida Keys heritage, the all-new culinary program will bring a refreshing yet elevated dining experience to the Florida Keys. Conceptualized by Chef Zack Sklar and in collaboration with owners, the Cotton Family, the menu refresh shines light on the rich cultural traditions of the West Indies, Polynesia, and French Caribbean. Menu highlights include but are not limited to, a selection of Caribbean inspired Curries with a curry paste made fresh in-house; Marker 88’s signature Floridian-style jerk chicken Fajitas served with house-made Roti and Tropical sauces; and a classic Key Lime Pie made atop a beautiful brown butter and sea salt crust. The new menu is also studded with a range of Keys classics, chilled shellfish, sushi, and much more. In Summer, Marker 88’s culinary offerings will extend to brunch, offering a bountiful selection of simple yet elevated brunch favorites for the early to mid-day cravings.

“This new menu showcases the local ingredients and flavors that have defined this region for centuries. We welcome you to step into a culinary experience that is as unique and unparalleled as the Keys themselves and indulge in one of the most magnificent sunsets you will ever lay eyes on.”

– Chef Zack Sklar
