Nancy Levy has lived in the Pinecrest/Palmetto Bay area for the past 11 years with her husband, Adam, and their two sons. She works in marketing and communications at Temple Beth Am and Rambam Day School and is a proud supporter of our public schools.
Levy is currently the PTSA president at Palmetto Middle School and serves on the Coral Reef Senior High IBIS board. Prior to this, she served on the PTA board of Palmetto Elementary School for seven years, including two years as president. She’s also the founder of the Winter Social event and fundraiser at Palmetto Elementary School, which was created to bring the parents and local community together while raising much-needed funds for the school’s campus and classrooms.
Impressively, she also served on the Miami-Dade Public School’s Family and Community Involvement Advisory Committee and on both Palmetto Elementary and Palmetto Middle Schools’ EESAC committees.
Her passion for community extends past her contributions in public schools. She has been working with the Junior League of Miami for several years on projects that directly benefit local organizations such as Inn Transition North/Inn Transition South and Casa Valentina.
What Fuels Her
Levy is motivated to make our local public schools the best place they can be for our students to learn and grow. Her dream is to transform local community schools into places where families can come together — not only to provide their children an exemplary education but to work together and build a bond that makes Pinecrest/Palmetto Bay schools feel like home.
She strives to help schools obtain the tools they need to educate our children. Whether it’s raising funds for computers in the lab, to resurface a basketball court or to renovate a media center, she’s the one who brings people together to help make it happen. “Many of our public schools need a little extra TLC that I hope to help with,” says Levy.
Through her community work, she hopes to set an example for her children and others. “Giving back to your community enables you to help others in a selfless way,” she says. “Volunteering benefits everyone and is a terrific way to have a positive impact on our community.”
Get Involved
If you are the parent of a child in public school, she encourages you to get involved as much as possible. “The bonus of volunteering in your schools is that you get to know other parents and form bonds that are the foundation of our school community,” says Levy. “These are the parents you will be growing up with as your children matriculate through the feeder pattern. These will be the families that will be part of your school community, so take a moment to give back to your school while making new connections. You’ll be happy you did.”
If you don’t have time to volunteer but would like to contribute financially through a donation, she encourages you to reach out to your school’s principal or PTA/PTSA president, since they know what needs the school has.
