Whenever asked, the Cohn doctors at Smile Miami Dental say that connecting with community members is the single most rewarding part of their profession. Being able to treat and care for multiple generations of families who have come through the office throughout the years has given all three Cohn doctors great satisfaction.
As we fight the COVID-19 pandemic together as a community, we understand our responsibility to maintain a clean and safe environment for all of our patients and staff. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a pause in everyday life and in businesses all around the world. As we aim to get back to work, we want to let our patients know that returning to work in an environment safe for everyone is our number one priority. Although infection control has always been a top priority at Smile Miami, we are taking this situation very seriously and have put even more stringent protocols in place to make sure our office is safe and comfortable. Our office is following infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We have been following these agencies on a daily basis to make sure that our infection control procedures are up-to-date and adhere to each agency’s recommendation.
When a patient arrives at our office, they are instructed to wait in their car and call us to inform us they are here. When it is time for the patient to be seen, they will be called back and instructed to enter the office. This is done to maintain social distance and avoid having people congregate in the office waiting room. There will be a plexiglass shield between patient and receptionist upon their arrival. The temperature of the patient will be taken with an infrared thermometer to make sure the patient does not have a fever. There will be a “clean” pen jar and a “used” pen jar for patients to use. Patients are instructed to wear a protective mask over their nose and mouth at all times in the office until dental treatment begins. All staff members will be outfitted with optimum personal protective equipment (PPE) in order to protect themselves and the patients who come into contact with them. The patient will be asked to remove the protective mask only when necessary for treatment. As soon as procedures are finished, the patient will be advised to place the mask back over their nose and mouth. The room will again be thoroughly cleaned after the patient exits. We are allowing more time between patients in order to properly clean each room.
We look forward to seeing you again at Smile Miami Dental. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we are taking to keep you and our staff safe in our office. Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to seeing your friendly faces at our office and around our community. If we work together as a community, there is no doubt in our minds that we will get through this crisis and be stronger on the other side! Stay safe and be well!
