Miami Jewish Health Hosts Ceremony for Holocaust Survivors

On January 23rd, Miami Jewish Health hosted their annual candle lighting ceremony to honor survivors of the Holocaust and commemorate the 6 million others who were not as fortunate. During the ceremony, Holocaust survivors each lit 6 candles, as customary in Jewish culture, to symbolize the 6 million fallen. The program followed with prayers from a Rabbi, speeches and poems from participating survivors and traditional songs which played throughout the service.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is an international memorial day on January 27 commemorating the tragedy of the Holocaust that occurred during the Second World War. It commemorates the genocide that resulted in the deaths of 6 million Jews and 11 million others, by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.
