Dieter Deussen and his five-year-old son Julian just completed the trip of a lifetime.
In a span of 13 days, the duo from Germany visited seven different countries and eight different cities on their way to visiting all of the LEGOLAND® Parks throughout the world!
“The key to this trip was to have fun and enjoy extensive time with my son,” said Deussen while embracing Julian. “It’s a memory that we’ll have forever.”
Deussen simply wanted to create a special experience for his young son before starting school for the very first time in September. Knowing that his son is a big LEGO®fan, Deussen suggested a “LEGOLAND World Tour.”
“It didn’t take more than a few seconds for Julian to say yes,” said Deussen.
Originally from Dusseldorf, Germany, their adventure began at the LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort in the UK on June 27. Immediately following Windsor, the twosome set their sails for LEGOLAND® Billund (Denmark), LEGOLAND® Deutschland (Germany), LEGOLAND® Dubai, LEGOLAND® Malaysia, LEGOLAND® Japan, and LEGOLAND® California Resort, with their final stop at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort on July 9; only thirteen days after originally landing in the UK to start their journey!
“Traveling the world and visiting all of the Parks in just under two weeks is the ultimate LEGOLAND vacation,” said LEGOLAND Florida Resort Head of Public Relations, Shawn Mikus. “We’re really happy that LEGOLAND Florida Resort could play a small part in creating a lifelong memory for Dieter and Julian.”
The dynamic traveling duo spent valuable time at all of the theme parks, making sure they hopped on the most iconic rides at each destination. At LEGOLAND Florida Resort, the Deussen’s enjoyed THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD, where they laughed their way to Cloud Cuckoo Land on Unikitty’s Disco Drop, soared on a ‘triple decker couch’ while riding THE LEGO MOVIE: Masters of Flight and revved their engines at Driving School (where Julian earned his 8th different Driving School license from the trip).
“This is the only place in the world to see THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD and it was a lot of fun; Julian loves the characters,” said Deussen.
Although this was the first journey of its kind to visit all current LEGOLAND parks, LEGOLAND officials realized the Deussen “LEGOLAND World Tour” was not quitecomplete. LEGOLAND officials surprised the Deussen’s with complimentary tickets to visit LEGOLAND New York Resort, opening in 2020.
It took Deussen eight months and a countless amount of hours to plan for the trip, but he insists it was worth every moment.
“100 percent it was worth it. To see Julian smile so much at every park and interact with children from around the world, regardless of the language difference, was amazing for me to see. I would absolutely do it again.”
