December 2018: Pinecrest / Palmetto Bay Edition

As a community magazine, The Florida Villager relies on the surrounding families, businesses, students, government and community leaders to help us bring relevant and informative information to our readers. Year after year we are humbled and honored by the support we receive and are proud to spotlight the people who make South Florida special. This year we were able to cover everything from a group of students on a mission to bring awareness to melanoma to a school administrator who goes above and beyond for her students (see our Philanthropist column this month!). We are never surprised, but always grateful, that whenever we bring attention to a cause or organization that needs community help, our readers never disappoint. Thank you for always making our job easier.

On another note, December marks the end of the year but the continuation of the holiday season. As South Floridians we are lucky enough to welcome many (many) Northern visitors, making us fluent in the art of winter entertaining. This year we went straight to the experts to learn a few new tricks from chefs in the area. And while old favorites rule (turkey and stuffing seem to be an all-around favorite), these chefs’ tips run the gamut from lobster on New Year’s Day to “Chopped”-style cooking competitions in their home kitchens.
