Whether you’re heading to day camp or sleepaway camp, the one thing that all camps have in common is the general amount of STUFF it requires. We turned to Leslie Matus, the South Florida rep for camp go-to Camp Stuff 4 Less, for a quick primer on the who, what and wear of summer camp 2018. Here’s what’s on the list
Basics with a twist
Campers leaving home do well to bring an egg crate to make bunk mattresses a little more comfortable, says Matus, as well as a good flashlight, fun stationery and a stationery pouch to keep letters, pens and stamps organized. Day campers can keep hydrated and cool with a water bottle emblazoned with their name, camp name or the name of their favorite sports team. And don’t forget the ever-popular misting fan.
Personalized Everything
A name or monogram makes everything a little more fun for campers, says Matus. Also popular? Showing camp spirit by putting the camp name on everything from a phone case to stickers. Also available are hats, headbands, t-shirts and shorts. But Matus says to keep in mind that custom orders can take up to four-to-five weeks depending on the order so start looking and place your orders early.
Shower Power
Also at the top of the list are Showaflops, soft, ultra cushioned flip-flops with an antimicrobial surface that protects against fungus, germs and bacteria, drainage holes and grooved soles that keep feet from slipping on wet surfaces. The flops come in a variety of eclectic patterns from stars to splatter paint to camo and faux marble.
New and Notable
New on the roster are magic sequin reversible sequin items including pillows, journals, pouches and more. Comfy and lightweight, sleep sacs have also taken off. The machine-washable, zipperless sleeping bags are perfect for cool nights of outdoor activities or AC-chilled movie marathons at home.
