With business booming, Jenna White did the unthinkable with her eponymous boutique in South Miami. She locked her doors. But fear not fashionistas, the Grove resident is back in a big way. After a short renovation and new home just a few doors down from her original space, White is taking over her previous location with a new client base… kids. Those who have been Insta-stalking her new offerings know the shop, Jenna White Kids, is a treasure trove of cool pajamas, boho dresses, rock tees and velvet rompers in addition to some seriously cool decor and accessories. We sat down with White to see what prompted the move, why kids and what she’s giving this holiday season.
Why expand into kids now?
I love all things beautiful, all things cool and all things creative. It just felt right. I saw a space available and just wanted to create something special. I have a seven year old son, so being able to incorporate him into my business and have him help with the buy and dream up the decor and concept was really special to me.
What’s your vision for the store and how have you been preparing for the opening?
Three words came to my mind when creating my kids store: Magical. Novelty. Dreamland. I made sure to create something the kids would love just as much as the adults. I made sure to buy lines that you can’t find anywhere. I would stay up all night long just so I could speak with designers in Israel, England, France, Belgium, Berlin and literally all over the world to ensure we could carry their collections.
What brands are you most excited about?
This is such a hard question! When you go into the store you will see-literally everything is cute! I love Nununu and for an edgier look, Go Gently Nation makes the most insanely cool basics, The Bonnie Mob has incredible cashmere and cotton blend knits with unbeatable prints and Louise Misha channels the bohemian hippie in me. Seriously though, I wish everything was available in my size-I love it all!
What are some of the holiday 2017 trends in kids clothing?
I think my favorite Holiday trend is crushed velvet. We have velvet pieces that are cool but sweet and incorporate glittery stars, ruffles and lace… literally all the bells and whistles. I especially love the pieces from Paush and Lil Lemons.
I know that you have a big interest in not just fashion, but design as well. What do you love as an easy holiday/hostess gift for adults?
This year I’m really into Fornasetti Candles. Not only do they smell incredible but after you burn them they can transform into a beautiful vase or container for the bathroom or kitchen. Their prints are really special, plus classics never die.
