Want to help? Here are a couple of ways to support the community post-Irma.

The Coral Gables Community Foundation has established the Hurricane Irma Recovery Fund to benefit fellow Floridians impacted across the state. “We wish everyone strength and safety as our City readjusts after Hurricane Irma and our thoughts are with our friends across the state who received the full impact of the storm, ” said Mary Snow, Executive Director of the Coral Gables Community Foundation. Proceeds will benefit floridians served by the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, the Community Foundation of Collier County, the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida and the Tampa Bay Community Foundation. “As they begin to assess damages from Hurricane Irma and uncover the full effects of the storm, we’d like to offer assistance in any way we can,” Snow said. Those who would like to donate can do so on the Foundation’s website by visiting gablesfoundation.org/giving/donate/.

The Miami Foundation Relief Fund will support recovery and rebuilding work driven by organizations on the ground, while the Irma Community Recovery Fund will support relief efforts for Florida’s marginalized communities, ensuring residents in poverty have access to critical services and resources. Feeding South Florida, a member of Feeding America, has been working diligently with its partner food banks to meet the critical food needs of Floridians affected by the storm. Visit feedingsouthflorida.org for more information.

The United Way is working via Helping Hands Miami to support the response, rebuilding and recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean and other areas that may be impacted by this powerful storm. One hundred percent of all donations to Operation Helping Hands will go directly to supporting response efforts. The team will work with local United Ways and nonprofit agencies in the affected areas to support both immediate and long-term recovery needs. Visit unitedwaymiami.org for more information.
