Colombia Impress In 3-0 Win Over Greece

The third day of the FIFA World Cup got to a great start as Colombia convincingly beat Greece 3-0 in Belo Horizonte.

Just five minutes after the whistle Pablo Armero received a beautiful low pass into the box and shot at goal and although the shot was deflected by a Greek defender, the ball managed to roll into the net as goalkeeper Karnezis frantically attempted to scoop up the ball. Both Colombia and Greece would go on to miss half-chances until the referee blew the half-time whistle.

The next goal would come in the second half at the 58 minute as Teofilo Gutierrez caught a deflection from a cross to tip it into the top of the net in a remarkable goal that would be his first ever in a World Cup. Greece then played hard to catch up to “Los Cafeteros” but came up short as the 90th minute came and their hopes were finally put to rest as Colombia’s last goal came from James Rodriguez who took a controlled shot in space at 16 yards to roll past Greece’s goalkeeper who managed to get a finger on the ball but not enough to stop it.

After four minutes of added time the whistle was blown and Colombia became the third South American team to win so far in the World Cup, making it 3 for 3.
