Chile Beat Australia 3-1

Chile played Australia in the second day of the FIFA World Cup and performed slightly below expectation but still emerged with a convincing 3-1 win.

Following an impressive win over Spain by the Dutch, Chile hoped to join Netherlands on the leader board with three points and did exactly that after starting the game with high-speed attack and netted their first goal after only 10 minutes of play. The Chileans followed up their first goal with a second goal after only two minutes to lead Chile into a 2-0 advantage over Australia with 70 minutes still left to play. This advantage is what held Chile back from increasing their lead and after becoming complacent and losing respect for their opponents they were forced to suffer the consequences as Australia netted a goal in the 35th minute to end the half 2-1.

The second half saw the Australian side attacking with more vigor in search of the equalizing goal but despite their efforts and a couple of missed chances they failed to net the much needed goal and instead saw Chile score the final blow in the 90+1 minute to seal the victory.

Chile now joins Netherlands,Mexico, and Brazil in the list of winners of the first two days of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
