What began in 2005 as a small home business, Living Alfresco has evolved into a storefront open to the public and the trade. “I love the outdoors and furnishings,” said owner Fantis. “My whole idea was to make ‘outdoor rooms’, not just patios.” Whether it is furniture, lanterns, pillows, or rugs, Living Alfresco, conveniently located in South Miami, is your best outdoor resource. As an outdoor decorator, Fantis has always assisted clients by going to their homes to see the space itself and get a feel for what her clients want to do. “I always determine if the purpose for the space is to be out in the sun, to dine, to relax, or all of these,” Fantis explained. In addition to determining a style, Fantis works hard to make sure her designs work with Florida’s weather. “Our environment is very wet and salty, with the sun beating down, so I am careful in selecting products to carry that will withstand our environment,” she said. Her purpose is to create “not only a beautiful place, but one that will withstand time as well.”

After moving from a home studio, Living Alfresco opened a showroom in the warehouse district by Bird Road. They have since moved to a more visible location on Red Road, off of Sunset Drive. With its own convenient parking lot, Fantis is thrilled with her new location and the surrounding stores she has as neighbors. Upon entering the store, visitors can view a sampling of all of the lines carried by Living Alfresco. Clients are then invited to sit down and discuss their desires and budget. Fantis still offers her personalized service of going out to the homes of her clients to “take pictures, measure, and listen to what people want,” she said. “Then, we come back with a solution.”

Although homeowners can use Living Alfresco’s services themselves, many designers frequent the showroom seeking Fantis’s help. Offering trade pricing, designers are welcome to work with Living Alfresco on behalf of their clients or along with them. Regardless of who the clients are, Living Alfresco supplies an A to Z turn-key service including planning, aiding in determining what fabrics, pieces, and rugs to add, delivery and installation. “We don’t just sell outdoor furniture,” Fantis said, “we create outdoor spaces.”
