Many Floridians rely on private wells for drinking water and septic systems to treat household wastewater. Hurricanes, flooding and routine maintenance challenges can affect the safety and reliability of these systems.
To help homeowners prepare, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension Florida Well Owner Network is offering a free four-part webinar series covering private wells, septic systems, water treatment and storm readiness. The series will be conducted via Zoom and offered in English and Spanish. Participants may register each online series from this website.
“Private wells and septic systems are important household infrastructure that can be vulnerable to storms, flooding and maintenance challenges,” said Yilin Zhuang, a regional water resources specialized agent at the UF/IFAS Mid-Florida Research and Education Center. “Whether you are new to these topics or simply looking for trusted information, this webinar series provides practical, research-based guidance to help homeowners protect their water quality, better manage their systems and know where to turn when questions arise.”
