The Best Restaurant in Uruguay is Coming to Miami

One of the world’s most iconic beachside restaurants is coming to Miami for one weekend only. Parador La Huella, or more widely known as La Huella continues to earn the title of ‘Best Restaurant in Uruguay’ by Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants and ‘Best Beachside Restaurant on the Planet’ by Bon Appetit magazine. From Friday, June 21st through Sunday, June 23rd the chic coastal destination is taking over Amara at Paraiso by James Beard Award-Winning Chef Michael Schwartz. La Huella will transform the second floor of the waterfront property into an alluring beachside landscape. Guests can experience their renowned seafood specialties in a stylish setting for dinner (Friday & Saturday) or Sunday brunch.

Since opening in 2001, La Huella has become a Uruguayan institution. More than 20 years ago, three friends, Martín Pittaluga, Gustavo Barbero, and Guzmán Artagaveytia challenged each other to build a restaurant on the pristine sands of the beachside town of Jose Igancio. Since opening, the unassuming and captivating location has attracted guests ranging from  local families to the most fashionable travelers and notable celebrities from all over the world. Given its prime coastal location, La Huella has grown a reputation for stellar seafood and breathtaking surroundings where diners can almost feel the Atlantic waves crashing at their toes.

Chef Schwartz was invited to cook at La Huella last year and was charmed by the enchanting location and magical ambiance. He shared, “I’m honored to welcome La Huella’s esteemed team to Amara where we’ll blend Miami’s vibrancy with Uruguay’s rich culinary traditions. Together we will celebrate diverse flavors and cultures transcending borders to craft an unforgettable experience.”

Miami marks the second stop of the La Huella Itinerante tour with other stops in Rio and Cannes. During their off-season in the summer, the team travels to a few select cities for culinary takeovers. Co-Founder of La Huella, Martin Pittaluga shared, “It is a true joy for us to bring La Huella Itinerante to our friends, Amara at Paraiso. We have many things in common with chef Michael Schwartz, whom we admire for his spontaneous Latin spirit, his demand for quality ingredients and his ability to open doors. We are very excited to cook with him and his team.”

La Huella is helmed by Chef Vanessa González where the star of the show is the grill. During their weekend pop-up, Chef Vanessa and her culinary team will be showcasing their signature seaside specialties and grilled meats in Amara’s transformed space replicating La Huella signature stylish yet effortless ambiance. Live entertainment will also be provided featuring La Huella’s bewitching, rhythmic sounds. Each experience includes a welcome drink curated by La Huella’s lead mixologist and passed canapes followed by four-courses served family style paired with Uruguayan native wines by Garzon.

Throughout the evening guests can expect dishes like a refreshing ‘Crudo de Mar’ tartare; Caviar Tostada featuring Black River Caviar, sustainably farmed in Uruguay; Lobster al Ajillo served in a sizzling skillet with fresh herbs and aromatic spices; Squid Ink Paella tossed with fresh baby squid with aioli; Braised Lamb Shoulder served with slow-roasted seasonal vegetables and sweet potato puree; and La Huella’s classic desserts like Lemon Crostata and the crowd-pleasing Dulce de Leche Volcano. Brunch highlights include chilled Gazpacho; their traditional La Huella Ceviche; savory Pumpkin and Queso Blanco Empanadas; Seafood Barley Stew filled with fresh clams, crab, fried fish and mussels; Grilled Local Fish served with roasted mushrooms, crispy polenta cake and aioli; and desserts ranging from citrus spiked Passion Fruit Pie to the Uruguayan delicacy Chaja, layered with sponge cake and seasonal fruits.

These special edition dinners will take place on Friday, June 21st and Saturday, June 22nd at 7:30 PM and brunch will offer one seating on Sunday, June 23rd at 1 PM. Brunch will be priced at $150 per person and dinner will cost $250 per person. Seating will be limited for these exclusive and unparalleled dining experiences. Avianca Airlines will be the title sponsor for the weekend takeover. Reservations can be made on Open Table here. Amara at Paraiso is located at 3101 NE 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33137.
