USA Today Names FLIFF among Top 10 Film Festivals

With nearly1,000 film festivals in the US, FLIFF (Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival) was selected in USA TODAY’s “10 Best Readers’ Choice contest for Best Film Festival”.

Nominees are chosen by a panel of experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY and relevant expert contributors. The final set of nominees are then presented to the public, and readers vote for four weeks before the winners are announced.

“We are so proud and humbled to have been selected by the readers of USA TODAY.” said Lisa Grigorian, chairperson of the FLIFF Board of Directors. “FLIFF has grown so much, attracting filmmakers and talent from throughout the world while promoting all that South Florida has to offer. The diversity of films, the receptions and parties, the multiple venues, all combine to make FLIFF what we affectionately refer to it as ‘A vacation from ordinary film.’”

Now in its 39th year, FLIFF has blossomed from a small showcase of films to an internationally recognized festival attracting filmmakers, talent and attendees from throughout the globe. Since its inception, FLIFF has garnered recognition from the public, the press and the cinematic community, beginning in 1993 when Variety recognized FLIFF as one of the Top New Hot Film Festivals.

Plans are underway for the 39th annual festival taking place November 8-17, with more than 150 films from 30+ countries. The ten-day festival kicks off Opening Night off with a star-studded red carpet, followed by an award ceremony and screening at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
