The New World of John Hardy

Miami Pop-Up Featuring Exclusive New Designs now Open

With the opening of an innovative seasonal pop-up shop, a fresh chapter of John Hardy comes to life in Miami. Under the leadership of Creative Chair Reed Krakoff, the almost 50-year-old brand has undertaken an extensive evolution of its product design, brand identity and marketing and now the retail experience gets its moment to shine.

“I’ve loved Miami’s vibrant design and art scene for years,” said Reed Krakoff. “It’s such a bright and dynamic city with a powerful interest in innovation and new ideas. We’re excited to bring this concept and a new kind of luxury to this unique market, which has the ideal mindset to appreciate the laid back, effortless and beachy vibe of the John Hardy brand.”

An exclusive selection of jewelry has been curated for the opening, including body, belly and ankle chains in both gold and silver; a newly released rose gold and diamond Pavé Spear bracelet; sterling silver Colorblock bracelets with neon orange enamel beads exclusive to Miami; a John Hardy smartwatch strap for the Apple Watch®; and vibrant sterling silver and orange rubber wrap bracelets. The latest buzzworthy John Hardy collections will be on offer at the Miami pop-up, including the just-launched Spear and Surf collections. Icon, the brand’s cult favorite chain collection which has been handwoven in Bali since 1975, is well represented, with a broad selection available.

Strategically located in the Miami Design District, this experimental space was created to reflect John Hardy’s history of artisanal excellence, reinterpreted through a modern lens. The result is a perfect blend of warm hospitality, immersive ambient design and digital interactivity. Anchored by a glossy floor painted in John Hardy’s bold new signature marigold orange and pops of citrus-y neon yellow and green, the shop is inviting, fresh and designed to please all the senses.

At the center of the store, visitors will find an inviting area for playing with and trying on the latest John Hardy designs. The space is delineated by a sculptural handmade screen of bamboo that is graphic and linear at its base and reaches nearly to the ceiling, loosening into organic, spiky curves at the top. The feeling inside the screened area is intimate and cosseted, like a jungle jewelry box with mirrors and bold, modern seating. In many cultures bamboo symbolizes strength, flexibility, and growth and the company has planted bamboo to help offset its carbon footprint since 2007.

To connect the retail experience with the digital and social world, the shop features a Sebring Imaging E System, which creates a 180º degree interactive portrait that’s both sent to the user via email and printed in a traditional photo-strip. This innovative image capturing system was created by artist Steven Sebring, whose studio produces interactive and immersive content for traditional print and digital media platforms. Images captured by the booth are formulated to make it easy to upload, so guests can share looks they’ve put together on social media or with jewelry-obsessed friends or family members.

A tea tasting bar, created in collaboration with Bellocq Tea, offers a curated selection of handcrafted luxury teas for guests to enjoy while they shop. Inspired by the lush landscape and rich tea traditions of Bali, the blends created exclusively for John Hardy include Jasmine and Marigold Blossom Tea; Milk Oolong, Rosebud and Lemongrass Tea; Indonesian Breakfast Tea; and a caffeine-free Balinese Ginger Tea with Lemongrass and Chrysanthemum.

The John Hardy shop, located at 151 NE 41st St #3547, will be open to the public until December 31, 2023.
