Verizon Grand Opening Coconut Grove

The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Miami Dolphins alumni Nat Moore, the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders and local community leaders welcomed Verizon to the Coconut Grove neighborhood yesterday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the company’s newest retail location in Miami.

This store opening comes on the heels of Verizon’s recent $1 billion Florida network investment bringing additional coverage, capacity, and new technologies to the state.

“Verizon is proud to be part of the Coconut Grove neighborhood. We are a local brand – one store at a time, one community at a time,” Verizon Consumer Group Executive Vice President and CEO Sowmyanaraya Sampath said in his remarks at the event. “That’s how we build our brand, so you’re going to see us very present in the community. We want to help and get more involved.”

To further honor its commitment to the community, Verizon presented a total of $20,000 in donations to two local partner organizations. Executive Director Lori-Ann Cox and Director of Student Achievement Webber Charles accepted a check from Verizon for $10,000 on behalf of Breakthrough Miami, an academic enrichment program that supports STEM and STEAM education for middle school and high school students. Executive Director Alejandro Gonzalez also accepted a $10,000 check from Verizon on behalf of the The Idea Center at Miami-Dade College to help fund entrepreneurship education for students to receive hands-on experience with local business leaders.

The new Verizon retail location is over 2,200 square feet and is now open at 2720 S. Dixie Highway in Coconut Grove.
