The Canvas Expands to Miami with New Flagship Store in Wynwood

The Canvas, a platform for emerging, independent, and ethically-focused brands and creators, is pleased to announce the opening of its eighth space in Miami, Florida. The new location will be in the heart of Wynwood, the creative and technical hub of Miami.

This will be The Canvas’ first US store outside New York. They are taking over a 5000 sq.ft ground floor space previously occupied by Solana Spaces, and within a building whose tenants include Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund. The Miami store will combine The Canvas’ multi-brand fashion + lifestyle retail platform and The Canvas 3.0, a Web3 NFT gallery concept. The dialogue around social conscious fashion is taking over, and The Canvas is continuing to work to spread a diverse array of eco-friendly brands across the U.S.

Since its founding by Devin Gilmartin and Steff Vermeesch, The Canvas has quickly become a cultural force in New York City and beyond, helping creators digital and physical reach larger audiences in unprecedented ways. In less than a year, the rapidly expanding start-up has opened up seven locations in downtown New York City with further expansion to Miami coming this spring.

The Canvas brings small ethical brands into new retail markets through an innovative model which
leverages both commercial real estate and strategic partnerships with major landlords. The Canvas then opens, operates, and fully services the stores; they power a number of concepts, including multi-brand retail, single-brand retail, and a web3-focused activation pilot in collaboration with WHIM, a high-tech “digital canvas”. At the core of the business are the flagship stores which focus on managing and elevating their brands. The storefronts serve as an incubator for a rapidly growing number of creators in both digital and physical realms.

The Canvas is a member of the United Nations Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network, a platform for industry stakeholders, media, governments, and UN entities to showcase collaborations that accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Every brand sold within The Canvas fulfills at least two of the development goals, and their products are designed for durability or the ability to be upcycled.

The Canvas has been a breeding ground for many innovative sustainable companies such as Zellerfeld, a 3D printed footwear company. The Canvas is also developing partnerships with companies beyond the bounds of fashion, most recently with Trident, an emerging “risk to earn” gamefi project on Arbitrum making waves in the Web3 world.
