The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners recognized Key West International Airport Executive Director Richard Strickland Wednesday for being named the Airport Professional of the Year by the Southeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (SEC-AAAE).
Strickland received the award at the SEC-AAAE annual conference in Richmond, Va., on May 2. He was selected by the association’s Corporate Committee for the award, given annually to an Executive Member of the Chapter for professional accomplishments and contributions to the industry.
Mayor Craig Cates and the commissioners congratulated Strickland for the award as well as the ongoing Key West airport Concourse A and terminal improvements project.
“I want to thank the Commissioners, County Administrator Roman Gastesi, and of course, my staff for their support,” Strickland said.
Strickland is an Accredited Airport Executive who has participated in the SEC-AAAE chapter since he arrived in South Florida in September 2018. He was selected for the award specifically for his contributions to significant growth at Key West International Airport.
