The Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Greater Miami are proud to announce Jossie Aguirre as executive director. Since taking the role of interim executive director in March 2022, Aguirre has led the organization with vigor, working hard to streamline and create processes that will maximize their lifesaving impact on Miami’s homeless animals. Aguirre’s hands-on approach and commitment to the animals has re-energized the staff more than ever and has brought on many positive changes in the past 10 months.
In her prior role with the organization as the director of marketing and special events, Aguirre dedicated her time to providing a voice for every dog and cat that entered the shelter in need of a forever family. With more than 20 years in marketing, event and nonprofit experience, Aguirre worked hard to create new events and build partnerships, helping spread the organization’s mission further. She used her expertise to revolutionize the way they promote and advocate for adoptions, spay/neuter and the humane treatment of all animals.
“As a passionate animal advocate, I have always hoped to be able to make a true difference in the lives of animals,” says Aguirre. “I am excited to steer the Humane Society of Greater Miami into a new era in animal welfare via enhanced community partnerships through our programs and services. I look forward to all the incredible work we will do for the animals!”
