Womanish: New Interactive Experience on Womxn Pops Up in Miami

Following its successful opening in Chicago, Womanish, a national, playful and thought-provoking art exhibition and interactive experience curated by womxn for womxn, is proud to launch in Miami this summer in the Wynwood Art District. In a space imagined and built by womxn of color, the Womanish exhibit will feature one-of-a-kind large room activations across a 5,000 square feet space with vividly-colored wall murals and creative installations from local and national female artists that incorporate elements inspired by Miami culture or global views around womxn issues.

Launched in their hometown of Chicago in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Womanish Black female founders and sisters Dionna and Danyelle Gray and Creative Director Emily Dahlquist collaborated on the creation of a purposeful art experience centered on womxn that would bring together people from all different backgrounds to celebrate and uplift women.

More than just another pop-up, Womanish is a movement that creates progressive visual and physical experiences. As visitors enter the Womanish experience they will walk into 16 picturesque rooms, each focusing on a different “ish” factor of womanhood experienced by womxn from various viewpoints. A hyper-sensory experience for all ages, guests can:

  • Play with censorship in a juicy way in “CENSOREDISH”
  • Escape to a whimsical and colorful world that awakens your inner child in “CHILDISH”
  • Enter a holographic dimension in “VANISH”
  • Feed their soul and stop to smell the roses in our Floral Garden in “FLEURISH”
  • Explore the impact of the pink tax in “CONSUMERISH”
  • Prioritize self-care in “SELFISH”
  • Find the connection between fantasy and reality, sanity and normality in “MOODYISH,” and more!

“Beyond the Instagrammable content, Womanish is bringing awareness to important womxn issues in our exhibit, such as the pink tax, mental health, the gender pay gap and much more,” stated co-founder Danyelle Gray.

Visitors can snap their own pictures or for an additional fee rent a Polaroid camera which comes with 10 complimentary prints.

“This experience is a culturally-inclusive safe space that provokes imagination, conversation and change around breaking single-definition stereotypes,” added co-founder Dionna Gray. “Womanish is more than an exhibit, it’s a pro-womxn empowerment movement. No matter how you identify, you will be able to encounter, contemplate, and connect with some components of the unique installations and curated programming we have.”

Womanish will open its doors to the public on Wednesday, June 30th, 2021, following CDC guidelines to ensure a safe and culturally energetic experience. Tickets start at $35 for a 75-minute visit and range in price depending on the upgrade. Kids 4 years old and under are free.
