Palmer Trinity Students Raise Funds for Orphaned Starfish Foundation

Palmer Trinity School (PTS) juniors, Alejandro Ichiro Miyasaka, Javi Cervera, Jackson Graeff and Alex Fumagalli, presented Andrew Stein, founder and executive chairman of the Orphaned Starfish Foundation, with a check for $700. The students raised funds from the sale of their homemade Ichiro’s Cookies, a business they launched as part of the PTS Social Entrepreneurship class.

The Orphaned Starfish Foundation is dedicated to helping orphans, victims of abuse, survivors of trafficking, indigenous children, at-risk youth, and refugees break their cycles of abuse and poverty through technology-based education, job training and job placement assistance.  OSF helps children around the world with a focus in Latin America, Asia and Africa.

“We are very proud of the philanthropic leadership our amazing students have shown,” stated Patrick Roberts, Head of School. “This initiative demonstrates their drive and ingenuity to benefit vulnerable youth both locally and globally.”

Launched in 2014, the PTS Social Entrepreneurship program empowers young people with the skills and experiences needed to design, launch, and run their own ventures for social change and environmental innovation.
