Three safe and family-friendly Halloween events in Pinecrest

The Village is making Halloween a little scary and very safe this year with three events for everyone in the family to enjoy, including pets. For extra fun participate in all three – Spooky Drive-in Movie Theater on October 23, Zombie Park Truck or Treat Drive-thru on October 30 and a Howl-O-Ween virtual costume contest on October 31.

The Spooky Drive-in Movie Theater

The Spooky Drive-in Movie Theater featuring the 2019 animated rendition of the classic “The Addams Family” will be held on Friday, October 23 at the Village Green behind the Pinecrest Community Center, 5855 Killian Parkway. Gates open at 6:15 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7:00 p.m., with sound transmitted via an FM radio frequency directly to car stereo systems. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at Elia Café in the Pinecrest Community Center.

Be careful when you walk away from the car. The forecast calls for fog, and there are rumors that zombies are making their way back to the Village.

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at www.pinecrest-fl.gov/halloween. Capacity is limited, so get your ticket early. This is a family-friendly event hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department.

There will be an overflow option for moviegoers who prefer to sit under the stars in socially distant circles for non-vehicle viewing. Tickets for lawn circles will be available for purchase the day of the event for $20. Each circle can accommodate a maximum of six people. Personal lawn chairs or blankets for lawn viewing circles are recommended. Social distancing circle participants must utilize FM radio with headphones or an FM Radio app with headphones to listen to the movie.

The Zombie Park Truck or Treat Drive-thru

The Zombie Park Truck or Treat Drive-thru is free and will take place on Friday, October 30 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Playful, yet starving zombies will be roaming the Pinecrest Community Center/Pinecrest Gardens parking area in search of humans and stockpiles of candy. Only those who are brave enough will get a close-up glimpse of these unpredictable ghouls with an affinity for candy and human flesh.

Each group will have the option of choosing just how scary the experience will be at the start of the tour, making this a Halloween experience everyone can enjoy. Visitors will be asked to open their car trunks upon entering the event so that treats may be placed inside. Car trunks will be closed by staff as cars exit.

All guests must stay in the car to avoid being bitten, or worse eaten, by a hungry zombie. Visitors are encouraged to decorate their cars and wear costumes (to trick the zombies who really prefer eating humans). A photo opportunity will be available at the end of the tour. This event is hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department.

Howl-O-Ween

Howl-O-Ween will take place virtually this year on Saturday October 31. More details will be posted soon. This is a Pinecrest Gardens event that benefits Paws-4-U
