Making the Shift

This year has had its value. It has reminded us what we find most important. Our health, our home, and our time are at the forefront. It’s no wonder that home buyers’ wish lists have shifted to reflect these priorities.

These days, as people start searching for their revised dreamhome, the must-haves are a little different than before. Buyers want plenty of space, especially outdoors, but low- to no-maintenance. They need privacy and seclusion to stay safe, while still craving essential human interaction, albeit at a distance. They want luxury and sophistication in their sanctuary, but no longer want to be tied down by the maintenance of a giant estate.

Many who may have never considered downsizing or side-stepping, are now looking for viable options. Fortunately, low density, high-end condominiums like Giralda Place, check every box on the list. And there’s really no place like these homes.

Buying the Neighborhood

Luxury buildings are known for their amenities. These days, developers build plush pools, Peloton bike rooms and lavish lobbies. What they can’t build is location. Coral Gables is ranked one of the Best Places to Live by livability.com in recent years. Giralda Place is centered directly in the heart of Coral Gables, aptly nicknamed, the City Beautiful.

“Every building offers amenities, but not every building can offer you true walkability and a vibrant community outside your door. Steps away from Giralda Place, one can eat at award-winning restaurants, soak in culture at the Coral Gables Museum and the Miracle Playhouse, and shop the boutiques of Miracle Mile,” tells Eduardo Pruna, Global Real Estate Advisor at One Sotheby’s International Realty.

Miracle Mile is one of South Florida’s most sought-after destinations, featuring fashion, art, boutiques, and restaurants in a lushly landscaped environment of tree-lined streets. Also home to the University of Miami, world renowned healthcare with Baptist Hospital, A-level schools, country clubs, and a short drive to parks, beaches and downtown Miami, it’s no wonder the Gables tops everyone’s wish list.

Safety & Space

Private elevator access, FOB building entry, and premium air filtration systems have been a staple long before this period arrived. The ability to maintain minimal contact while upholding the highest of comfort has always been a source of pride for Giralda Place. “The residents have truly appreciated what this boutique building has to offer, especially during these past months,” says Pruna.

Now, buyers are asking for a partial paradox, wanting space, but less maintenance. They want an extra bedroom for a home office all while being in an amenity-rich neighborhood. They want an oasis-level pool and outdoor space, but don’t want the constant upkeep. They want total luxury and magazine-worthy finishes without the cost and hassle of renovations. Boutique luxury buildings in a premium central location are hard to come by, and because of this, don’t often register on the buyer search. This, like many things, is starting to pivot. It seems Giralda Place was almost created to serve this very purpose.

Live. Work. Play.

Miami is known for its over-abundance of everything. We live hard, work hard and play hard, and are proud of it. We want ultimate luxury and infinite entertainment among clean, safe and well-run cities. We want the best. Recently, people everywhere have been struggling to find the balance of the things they love. In some parts, people feel “stuck at home”, with no avenue to interact with culture and other human beings. Giralda Place residents have their beautiful spacious home, the time to enjoy it, and the ability to step outside and safely soak up European-style streets.

There’s a shift that has to happen for most buyers in this area. A move from a single family home to a luxury townhome is not a downsize, it’s more of a lifestyle shift. “The value of these homes are comparable, but the short- and long- term benefits of what you gain in terms of peace-of-mind, mental health, and basic human needs is immeasurable,” Eduardo explains. Getting back to basics, to what’s really important to us, is perhaps a silver lining amid the storm.
