Marlins To Hit A Home Run with New Home Plate Meals Food Pantry

The Miami Marlins, in partnership with Feeding South Florida, look to strike out childhood hunger with a new food pantry at Charles R Drew K-8 Center (1775 NW 60 ST, Miami, FL, 33142) as part of the Miami Marlins Foundation’s new initiative Home Plate Meals. On Friday, August 9, Marlins players Martín Prado, Sandy Alcantara, Curtis Granderson, Elieser Hernandez, and Harold Ramirez will turn in their bats and baseball gloves for paint brushes and work gloves.

The players will set up and stock the pantry, and paint the walls of the room in Marlins colores. The Marlins Foundation and Feeding South Florida will also hold a joint food distribution at Charles R Drew K-8 Center led by Marlins executives and players. Miami Marlins Home Plate Meals, which is funded by Marlins infielder Martín Prado and Teammates For Kids Foundation, supports Feeding South Florida’s School Pantry Program, and aims to alleviate child hunger through the provision of food to children and their families.
