Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Though it’s a time for food, family and friends, it’s also a time to turn our attention to those around us who might need a little extra help this holiday season. This month we’re so happy to finally profile someone who has been on our radar for a while: Kristen Bloom. Her organization has taken action in our community to reach out to refugees who have been resettled in South Florida and not only help them adjust to daily life in a new country and culture, but to help them find opportunities to share their own culture (and food) with all of us. Their “Taste of Syria” events have become well known in philanthropic circles, but what they do goes far beyond just cooking. We hope you find their commitment as inspiring as we do.

Elsewhere in this issue we took on some of the toughest people to gift: those who make our own daily lives, and those of our families, so much easier. From coaches and teachers to hair stylists, co-workers and babysitters, we’ve found the best, most unique gifts at every price point that are guaranteed to bring a smile to their face and make their day a little brighter. One more quick note: be sure to head over to miamibookfair.com and check out all of the incredible programming going on during Book Fair week. It’s yet another benefit of living in this magic city and we know just about everyone will find something to peak their interest.
