Miami Welcomes The FIFA World Cup Trophy

Coca-Cola is helping commemorate the 2018 FIFA World CupTM with a nationwide trophy tour. On Tuesday, April 17, the FIFA World Cup Trophy arrived in Miami via chartered plane for an exclusive event at Signature Flight Support (MIA). The plane was welcomed by a water canon salute and live Latin band. Attendees were the first and only group to see the branded plane as part of the U.S. tour. This marks the fourth time the company has brought the Trophy on tour as part of its longtime partnership with FIFA. Coca-Cola has been a global partner of FIFA since 1974. Please let me know if you’re able to include in the upcoming issue.

The airport ceremony was attended by over 150 guests and VIPs including Jan Schetters, Coca-Cola North America Global Football Manager; Juan Pablo Gonzalez, Director of Multicultural Marketing for Coca-Cola North America;Philippe Le Floc’h, Chief Commercial Officer for FIFIA; Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, Florida Senator Rene Garcia, Florida Senator Daphne Campbell, and Commissioner Audrey Edmonson.

Select groups, including media and stakeholders, were given an exclusive first look of the trophy on the plane before the unveiling in the airport hangar. Attendees had a chance to take a photo with the trophy in its case in the photo booth area and take home a printed keepsake from the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

During its global journey, the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca- Cola will visit 91 cities in 51 countries, spanning six continents on a nine-month journey. The FIFA World Cup™ Original Trophy will travel more than 90,000 miles throughout the duration of the entire tour.
