Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami to Host 60th Anniversary Little Gems, Big Glow’ Gala

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, along with presenting partners Carnival Foundation and Carnival Corporation and honorary chair Edie Laquer, will host the nonprofit youth mentoring organization’s “60th Anniversary Little Gems, Big Glow” gala at 6:30 p.m. Saturday,March 3, 2018, at JW Marriott Marquis, located at 225 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami. Hundreds of Miami’s corporate and philanthropic elite will join community leaders, supporters and volunteers at the 60th annual fundraiser for an evening of cocktails and a reception, followed by a gourmet dinner and dancing. This year’s event includes a special one and a half hour performance by the Gipsy Kings featuring André Reyes.

Organizers hope to raise over $1 million at the gala this year to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, the donor- and volunteer-supported organization that helps at-risk youths through adult mentorship relationships and provides holistic, wraparound services to children in our community at the organizations headquarters, Carnival Center for Excellence. Money raised supports matching volunteer mentors, known as “Bigs,” with children, or “Littles.” Each match costs $1,500. Last year’s gala raised more than $850,000 for BBBS.

Asha Elias and Tina van der Ven are serving as gala co-chairs and Jennifer Kennedy and Kristen Munroe as mentor chairs.
