Pinecrest Gardens will launch the second session of their “Urban Explorers” summer program for young adults with intellectual disabilities on July 13. The program, which targets young adults in the 18-30 age range and is run by Nature Links for Life Learning, helps participants learn to navigate their community independently through use of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) public transit. They also work in plant management and habitat restoration at Pinecrest Gardens, visit area museums and cultural institutions, learn basic money management skills, create iMovies and art projects, learn culinary arts and healthy habits, and study weather and local wildlife. Applications available on naturelinks.net.
