Curious about life under the waves? Head over to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science’s Space Gallery now through the end of August to experience the mystery and beauty of the ocean through “Under the Sea,” an exhibit of 13 images from the 2015 University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science Underwater Photography Contest. The annual Underwater Photography Contest is open to all amateur photographers who earn less than 20 percent of their income from photography. Categories were judged by a panel of expert judges from the Rosenstiel School, including photographer and University of Miami lecturer Myron Wang, underwater photographer Nicole Wang, and Rosenstiel School Research Assistant Professor Evan D’Alessandro. Recognition and prizes were awarded in five categories: Macro, Fish or Marine Animal Portrait, Wide Angle and Best University of Miami Student Photograph. The Best University of Miami Student Photograph, a contest sponsored by Divers Direct, was awarded to Laura Rock, who photographed a great hammerhead in Bimini, Bahamas. Rock also won the 2014 category for Best University of Miami Student Photograph. miamisci.org
