Palmer Trinity School was recognized with the Best Independent School Award, for the third consecutive year, at the 2014-2015 Green Schools Challenge and WE-LAB Awards Ceremony. This award is given to the top scoring independent or private school for student and staff work in designing and implementing energy and environmental solutions at school.
The Dream in Green flagship program, The Green Schools Challenge directly involves students and faculty in creating and utilizing their own energy and environmental solutions within school grounds. At the award ceremony, on June 3rd, 2015, Palmer Trinity also received the Eco-Summit Award and Innovation in Education Award.
The Eco-Summit Award was presented to Palmer Trinity School for an exceptional Science and Sustainability Fair, which took place on May 6th, 2015 in the school gymnasium. At the fair, students from different grade levels showcased their ability to utilize wind and water power to generate electricity, created public service announcements to raise awareness towards various environmental issues, and displayed their written pieces on sustainable living in the greater Miami area.
Dr. Leopoldo Llinas, Director of Environmental Stewardship and teacher of the new Social Entrepreneurship course (part of the Academy of Agents of Change at Palmer Trinity) was the recipient of the Innovation in Education Award for his exemplary green leadership, passion, and creativity.
