Dreams Come True Gala Raises $115,000 for South Florida Students

Nonprofit’s Annual Fundraiser Raises Record Funds for Organization’s South Florida Educational Programs and Services

Communities in Schools of Miami (CIS of Miami) raised $115,000 through its annual fundraiser in support of its educational programs and services that help South Florida students in and out of schools.

This year’s event was held on Saturday, May 2nd, and commemorated CIS of Miami’s 26 years of service. The theme of the 2015 gala was “Over The Rainbow: Where Dreams Come True,” which paid tribute to the successful journeys more than 20,000 students each year take toward their future. The event was sponsored by Pwc, Greenberg Traurig, FPL, Whole Foods, Bacardi USA and Cantine Delibori, along with other supporting sponsors.

The event took place in the Chopin Ballroom at the Intercontinental Miami Hotel overlooking downtown Miami’s skyline and Biscayne Bay. The evening started with a sunset cocktail hour where supporters bid on luxury, silent auction items including vacation packages, jewelry, restaurant gift certificates, spa treatments and more.

A three-course dinner followed the auction and was accompanied by live music and entertainment by CIS of Miami students.

All proceeds from the event directly benefit CIS of Miami and will fund dropout prevention programs including tutoring, mentoring and financial literacy to children in grades k-12.
