POWERADE® Launches ‘Power Your School’ Campaign

Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, Inc. (UNITED) believes that high school athletics are a crucial part of both physical and psychological development of youth.

That is why the company, which is based in Birmingham, Ala., will be selecting 45 deserving high schools across the southeast to receive a $2,000 donation to help with their athletic programs.  Teams can use the $2,000 awards in any way they see fit to help them achieve at a higher level. Past winners have purchased new equipment, uniforms and gear, improved practice facilities, and even covered the cost of transportation to and from games.

The POWERADE® Power Your School program is designed to make an impact and build relationships with teens, parents, coaches, and high schools in local communities. The goal is to power the next generation of athletes to reach their full potential.

“The impact POWERADE® POWER YOUR SCHOOL has made on high school athletes is both impressive and heartwarming,” said Melanie Clark, Corporate Senior Director of Marketing at Coca-Cola UNITED. “POWERADE® and Coca-Cola UNITED are part of our local communities. These are the places we work and live, and our belief is that stronger schools lead to stronger communities,” she added.

The POWERADE® Power Your School Program will provide a total of $90,000 to high school athletic programs this year.  Any high school sports program across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida is eligible to win.

This year, POWERADE® has teamed up with Walmart stores across seven states to help local high schools fuel their athletic programs with additional funding. Athletes, parents, coaches, and students can find special low pricing on POWERADE® at participating Walmart locations across the southeast during the promotion.
