No doubt, Miami has one of the most exciting and vibrant art scenes in the country. Since the launch of Art Basel in 2002, the city’s galleries and museums have expanded, turning Miami into a hub for contemporary and modern art. Additionally, Miami’s rich cultural roots have played a significant role in shaping the diverse types of art and entertainment one can enjoy throughout the city. Siempre Flamenco’s Festival de Cante Miami

The electrifying Festival de Cante returns with its 16th edition featuring acclaimed Spanish singers Macarena de Jerez, Morenito de Illora and Jose Campos, accompanied by exceptional guitarist Paco Fernandez and world-renowned dancer Juan Jose “El Junco” and joined by founding members, guitarist Paco and dancer Celia Fonta. The Cleveland Orchestra in Miami: Mahler’s First Symphony

The New World Symphony and The Cleveland Orchestra come together to delight audiences with a rendition of Mahler’s First Symphony. Mahler once wrote, “A symphony should be like the world; it should embrace everything.” His First Symphony delivers that and more. In between, pianist Georgie Li joins The Cleveland Orchestra for an exquisite performance of Debussy’s Fantaisie. November 4–5, Knight Concert Hall


Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM)

Mariano: Variations on a Theme

This first major retrospective exhibition for the United States features paintings, watercolors and drawings created by Cuban artist Mariano Rodriguez over six decades. Regarded as one of the most important painters of the Segunda Vanguardia, his work often featured stylized — and at times grotesque — variations of roosters, women, peasants, vegetation and marine life. Leandro Erlich: The Swimming Pool

Leandro Erlich: Liminal

Curated by Dan Cameron, this exhibit presenting 16 of Leandro Erlich’s works is thoughtfully designed to take the viewer through an underlying narrative intended to cast doubt about sensory input and the spaces around them. Erlich is best known for his body sculptures and illusion-inducing installations that play on the concepts of parallel universes and alternate realities. November 20–September 2023


Greater Miami Youth Symphony (GMYS)

The GMYS is an inclusive year-round, multitiered music training program consisting of over 600 students ranging in age from 5 to 18. This thrilling performance offers an imaginative twist on the cultural nuances of Jamaica and the Caribbean as experienced by choreographers from all over the islands and the United States. Farruquito

The New York Times calls him “the greatest flamenco dancer of this new century.” Performing alongside his grandfather “El Farruco,” Farruquito made his first international appearance on Broadway at just 4 years old. Since the age of 11, Farruquito has created and directed over 15 works and been on a mission to carry out the most renowned Gypsy flamenco dynasty by sharing the purest form of flamenco on stages all over the world. A Smithsonian affiliate, HistoryMiami safeguards and shares Miami stories to foster learning and engagement within the community. Its collection includes works and materials documenting Miami, the South Florida region and the Caribbean.

Capture: A Portrait of the Pandemic

As the world hunkered down with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, photographer and DJ Rahsaan “Fly Guy” Alexander took to the streets of Miami to capture this time in history. The exhibit’s more than 60 images reflect the attitudes and experiences resulting from the events of 2020 — from homelessness and racial injustice protests to a crumbling entertainment industry. Keys History & Discovery Center

Located on the property of the Islander Resort in Islamorada, the Discovery Center’s permanent exhibits include Pirates, Wreckers and Salvagers; 1733 Spanish Fleet; Indian Key: A Wrecker’s Paradise and the Coral Reef Exploration exhibit, which comprises three aquariums and was developed in partnership with Mote Marine Laboratory.

Sixth Annual A Smuggler’s Night at the Museum

  • The Legendary Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. The two-time winner of the Montreal Jazz Festival “Battle of the Bands” continues to entertain audiences of all ages on December 10.

Miami Book Fair

The Miami Book Fair is back for its 38th year and welcomes authors from all over the world for an event-filled week of readings, discussions and literature-centered activities. Check out the street fair for a chance to snag a first-edition copy of your favorite book! November 13–20

Art Basel Miami Beach

Art Basel invites visitors from around the world to discover Miami’s vibrant gallery scene and world-class art museums featuring the works of masters of modern and contemporary art as well as rising talent. Explore galleries and the Miami Beach Convention Center exhibits and attend one of the many satellite parties slated during this three-day event. December 1–3
