World Record-Holder and Charitable Ambassador Skates Across The Florida Keys For Clean Water

Ultra Endurance Athlete and Awarded Adventurer Katie Spotz Assists Non-Profit H2O for Life to Provide Clean Water in Haiti

Katie Spotz, clean water activist and adventurer, will embark on her latest ultra-endurance challenge and fundraising initiative Skate4Water, a journey to inline skate the entire length of the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail, from on February 14th until February 17th.

Spotz will start her 119-mile journey in Key Largo at skate an ultramarathon every day until she reaches Key West. The challenge will raise funds for non-profit H2O for Life in their global mission to ensure every child has safe water. With each stride, we will be one step closer to helping children in Haiti have access to clean water.

In 2021, Spotz was name U.S. Coast Guard Elite Athlete of the Year and set the world record for the most consecutive days to run an ultramarathon distance by running 50km (31-miles) for 11 days across the state of Ohio. Skate4Water marks Spotz’s 10th endurance challenge to raise money for clean water projects in developing communities around the world. She rose to the public spotlight during her 2010 campaign Row for Water where she set records by rowing solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 70 days. To date, Spotz’s work has impacted individuals all over the world including individuals in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, India, Honduras, Guatemala, Nigeria and other global communities.

For this challenge, Spotz has partnered with H2O for Life stating the organization “Does amazing work both locally and globally, delivering water and sanitation to schools all over the world. While also helping students in the US gain leadership skills, civic action experience, and see the power and ability they have to make a positive impact.”

H2O for Life Director Steve Hall stated, “Partners like Katie are helping unlock the opportunity for children around the world to live better, healthier lives. Because of her efforts, students are able to focus on learning, rather than wasting time walking and collecting water.
