The Salvation Army will distribute food to 500 local families

What: The Salvation Army will distribute food, water, and hygiene kits to thousands of individuals in Miami-Dade County through a drive-thru distribution. As the nation’s largest social services provider, The Salvation Army is prepared to meet the need of the most vulnerable in our community.

Approximately 3.3 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits as of last week, and many economists believe that this is the beginning of many more layoffs.  The recent COVID-19 pandemic has left many feeling hopeless and uncertain where their next meal will come from. While the full scope of the pandemic’s economic impact is still unknown, the people of Miami-Dade County can be assured that The Salvation Army is committed to meeting their basic needs without discrimination.

Though social distancing has changed the way the community centers and shelter programs conduct food pantry operations, it has not stopped the effort to help the community. All five of The Salvation Army’s food pantry locations in Miami-Dade County have continued by appointment-only. However, this event is part of a series of food distributions The Salvation Army will host across the area. Residents are urged to visit www.SalvationArmyMiami.org to contact their local office for upcoming dates and times.
