20th Anniversary Walk for the Animals on March 2

The Humane Society of Greater Miami invites you and your four-legged BFF to celebrate their 20th annual Walk for the Animals with them on March 2nd at Bayfront Park! Bringing together more than 3,000 of Miami’s most passionate animal-lovers and their dogs for a morning filled with fun, this event is the organization’s biggest community fundraiser. The goal: to bring friends, families, companies and clubs together for a howling good time to help raise much-needed funds to benefit the homeless dogs and cats of Miami. And this year in honor of its 20th anniversary milestone, the event will be bigger and better than ever with so many new and exciting activities, you and your dog will have a ball!

At the Walk for the Animals, going the extra mile to support our furry friends is literally a “walk in the park!” The scenic walk around Bayfront Park featuring stunning city and ocean views is just the beginning of the fun. Starting at 8:30AM, people and doggies of all ages will enjoy a morning filled with entertainment, including exciting raffles with awesome prizes, seriously amusing people and doggie contests like the “Look-Alike” and “Best Kisser” contests, games, food and refreshments. Adding to the excitement of the day on stage this year are the new event emcees: CBS4 New Anchor, Lauren Pastrana, and 102.7 The Beach Morning Host, Kenny Walker. And this year, the Humane Society is honored to have Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and Miami-Dade County Public Defender Carlos J. Jimenez as Grand Marshals.

Don’t forget to make a stop at the Doggie Fun Zone with your pet, where he or she will become an instant track star in the exciting agility course. This enclosed doggie racetrack has hurdles and tight corners for your doggie to show off their athletic skills and dazzle the crowd with their speed and agility. Don’t have a doggie? No problem! The Walk for the Animals will have an Adoption Arena with adoptables from local rescue groups, plus many fun, carnival style games with sweet prizes. And you will not want to miss the jaw-dropping performance by the Purina’s Incredible Dog Team. Prepare to be amazed by this talented group of pups who will stun you with incredible tricks!

“The Walk for the Animals is my favorite community event because it brings animal-lovers of all ages together to collectively be a voice for all of the homeless animals in our community,” says Laurie Hoffman, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. “This event uses every penny raised to care for more than 400 dogs and cats at our shelter and through our foster care program.” Are you ready to walk the walk and show your support for the homeless dogs and cats in our community? If so, then grab your friends and family, both two-legged and four-legged, and join the Humane Society of Greater Miami at the 2019 Walk for the Animals!

The Humane Society of Greater Miami is a limited admit, adoption guarantee facility dedicated to placing every dog and cat in our care into a loving home, and to promoting responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter programs. Adoption guarantee means that every animal that is admitted to our shelter is free from the threat of euthanasia due to time, space, or treatable medical issues. We provide shelter, food, veterinary care, and plenty of TLC while the dogs and cats wait for their permanent home, no matter how long it takes. We have been helping homeless animals in Miami-Dade County since 1936. We offer programs and services to educate, inform, and inspire people to take responsible care of their pets and treat animals with the kindness they deserve. With the support of people from across the county, we are helping to create a better community for all. We are a private, not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) charitable animal welfare organization supported solely by our programs and services, as well as donations, private grants and fundraising events.
