A Conversation With…Dr. Stephanie DeChurch

What makes you unique?

d. pediatrics is a whole new concept in pediatric medicine. It brings back old-fashioned values and combines them with the latest trends in raising healthy children. It strips back pediatric medicine to what it should be and allows parents to choose what is best for their child.

Where did you get your inspiration?

As a young physician I have always dreamed of one day having a cozy office where kids, young and old, loved to come. While in training I had the fortune of working with the best, Dr. Warren Quillian, one of the founding pediatricians in Coral Gables. I admired the time he took with each patient, his wonderful bedside manner and the charming nature of his practice. I have also been inspired by coffeehouses and the laid back style of my favorite resort in the keys as will be seen in the lobby area of the new office.

What are the best benefits of a boutique practice?

Close personal relationships that form lifelong bonds with my families; I know them all by name. Limited practice size places a value on patient’s and parents’ precious time. Appointments are amply spaced to avoid long wait times. It allows for the most up-to-date and best of Western medicine practices with the proven benefits of alternative medicine. All the amenities, the most fun part, such as flannel gowns for the children and a tea station for parents.

Why Downtown Dadeland?

I love the vibe of Downtown Dadeland. It attracts a young, sophisticated crowd. The place is well designed with ample covered parking. I am in the same building as Corpo Yoga and Lime, two of my favorite places.

What other services do you offer?

Virtual Visits will be a regular feature. Patients will have the opportunity to meet with me from their phone, tablet or computer to discuss concerns, obtain treatment of minor illnesses and receive prescribed medication as needed.

When is your grand opening?

It’s set for the New Year.

Are you the first of this concept practice in South Florida?

It’s the first boutique direct primary care (DPC) in South Florida. I have joined other DPC concept offices in Chicago, California, New York, Colorado, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Who can join?

Patients aged 0-21 years. I have unique individualized plans to choose from for newborns, single child families, large families and college kids.
