BRGR Stop Expands

Foodie Hotspot Known for Crazy Craft Burgers, Beers and Shakes Debuts in Gateway Shopping Center

BRGR STOP opened its second location in Fort Lauderdale this month, located in the Gateway Plaza on Sunrise Blvd.  Owners Michael Buchinski, Mark Haig and newcomer Devin Cahow launched this outpost after much success with their Coconut Creek flagship, which opened in 2015. New to this venue is a full bar featuring adult twists on childhood favorites such as spiked shakes and floats.

Open for lunch and dinner, the 3,600-square-foot eatery is located at 1930 E Sunrise Blvd., where patrons are greeted by a 1968 Ford cargo van parked inside the restaurant with LED headlights and the restaurant’s eclectic milkshake menu displayed on its windshield. The space is adorned with 150 different metal traffic signs, colorful graffiti art behind the bar and a 1947 Ford cab-over truck nestled in the wall overlooking the bar. Attached to the truck’s copper-plated grill are 10 local craft beers on tap consisting of local breweries such as Cigar City, Funky Buddha, Wynwood Brewing and Concrete Beach Brewery, adding a total of 26 craft beers.

The industrial design and underground feel was the vision of owners Michael Buchinski and Devin Cahow. All three owners created all of the sculptures and structures in the restaurant by hand. The burger-centric menu features new additions to the original location’s selection including the Carnivore Club, a steak lover’s paradise. In addition, vegetarians can sink their teeth into plant power via the vegan-friendly, plant-based patty, a wide variety of salads, the Miss Cheesious Artisan Melt or the Portobello Burger.

The beefed-up craft burger menu features 18 burgers with outrageous and flavorful creations such as the Fu-Get-About-It, 10 oz. BRGR blend combined with Bella Roma’s meatball mix, San Marzano tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese on a garlic butter toasted bun; the 2016 Riverwalk Burger Battle Fan Favorite, Peanut Butter Jelly Time, is made with peanut butter, tomato jam, cheddar cheese and candied bacon; and Mac Daddy, jalapeño Havarti cheese, jalapeño cheddar, sausage mac and cheese, root beer sriracha BBQ sauce and candied bacon; or the Ay Papi, a 50/50 chorizo and beef blend, fire-roasted poblano pepper, proper habanero bacon, Manchego cheese  and poblano lime aioli.

Boozy milkshakes are the newest addition to the menu thanks to the restaurant’s full bar. Highlights include the Swinging Ape, rum, banana, praline ice cream, peanut butter and Nilla wafer rim, caramelized bananas and Nilla wafers; Strawberry Shortcake, with vodka, Liqueur, Fruity Pebble milk, strawberry ice cream, strawberry jam and shortcake rim, topped with Fruity Pebble whipped cream, Fruity Pebble cereal, Twizzlers and Shortbread cookies; and Mint Condition, with whiskey, Jägermeister, chocolate syrup, mint chip ice cream, chocolate syrup and peppermint dust rim, whipped cream, thin mints and mini Jager bottle.

“We like to have fun with our food so we took the fun aspects of being an adult and combined it with a bit of childhood nostalgia,” says Owner Michael Buchinski. “It’s definitely a menu that reaches far past the bounds of the adult imagination and reaches the kid in all of us.”

Other menu options include soups and salads, artisan melts, hot dogs, craft soda floats, grilled wings, sandwiches and a “carnivore club” section coming soon which features a 20 oz. bone-in dry aged prime strip, 40 oz. 1855 prime plus porterhouse, 34 oz. 1855 prime plus tomahawk ribeye, 14 oz. 1855 bone-in filet mignon and a kurobuta tomahawk pork chop. There are craft beers behind the bar, craft cocktails, spiked stubborn floats, beer shot pairings and wines.

In mid-November, daily promotions and events will be implemented such as Happy Hour, Taco Burger Tuesdays, Late Night Specials, an Old School R&B Brunch and more.

Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 11 am to 12 am, Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 2 am and Sunday 11 am to 10 pm.
