Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami Raises $135,000

The Miracle Society, founded by The Women’s Committee of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, hosted the 18th-annual Miracle Makers Luncheon and Fashion Show at the JW Marriott Marquis on Friday, April 20, co-chaired by Laura Munilla and Ana VeigaMilton. Heather Monahan, author of the book “Confidence Creator,” served as emcee for this event, which every year brings together Miami’s philanthropic, corporate, and community leaders in support of at-risk children. The event successfully raised $135,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami’s youth mentoring programs, and 11 new Miracle Society members were recruited.

More than 350 guests attended the event, which featured a reception and silent auction benefiting the Lori Brener Scholarship Fund and co-chaired by Betty Barrios and Neyda Raola, followed by a fashion show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue Brickell, gourmet lunch, and recognition of this year’s Miracle Maker Honorees. This year’s honorees included: Maria Alonso; Lesli Brown; Maureen Brown; Anirays Camino; Remedios Diaz-Oliver; Matt Gorson; Mayra Joli; Pearl Baker Katz; Renee Lopez-Cantera; Silvia Trinidad; Suzy Buckley Woodward; the 2018 Power Couple was awarded to Lilliam and Gus Machado; Gabriella Zenoz was presented with the 2018 Youth Award and Butterfly Scholarship founded by event co-chairs Laura Munilla and Ana VeigaMilton; and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami’s Chief Executive Emeritus Lydia Muniz was presented with the 2018 Diamond Service Award.
