I learned something new today! The word PASEO means a leisurely walk or a walkway for strolling. Sounds pleasant to me and I hope it truly reflects the ambiance of Paseo de la Riviera, coming soon. The plan is to revitalize the area where the Coral Gables Holiday Inn is currently located, across from the University of Miami, with two buildings making up a hotel, residential units, and retail space. The developer, NP International, plans to also invest in neighboring Jaycee Park by resurfacing the basketball and tennis courts and making improvements to the landscaping. To ease some of the controversy, building height will mirror that of the neighboring university’s office buildings, traditional Coral Gables Mediterranean design will be incorporated with some modern architecture, and 840 parking spaces will be included in the plans as well as offering valet. Paseo de la Riviera takes pride in being walking distance from the Metrorail and the “Underline” (see my blog about the Underline). You also have access to the Coconut Grove trolley which is unique to this property’s location in comparison to other Coral Gables developments.
